Left-Align the Last Line Only Step. Open the Microsoft Word file in which you want to adjust the text. Click in the text at the very end of the paragraph's last line, immediately after the last character. The bar is the first line of each paragraph. Drag both to the right to where you want the left margin to be, then drag the bar back to the left. Add a tab after the footnote number to push the following text back to the left hand indent.
I'm having a really big problem with justify in Word. I've looked at many answers to similar posts but none seem to answer my exact problem which is:
A document (quite complicated with lots of page breaks, page numbers on some pages, not others - intentional, footers, exact number of same lines per page) created in Word 11 for Mac. The text needs to be justified, which I've done. However, on the first line of many of the pages there are large gaps between some of the words, often in the centre of the line which I assume is justify gone a bit wrong. When formatting is revealed, no space dot can be seen, even though I have to delete the space to make the words run on without a space. It seems to be telling me one thing but doing another.
Things I've tried:
- 'Justify like Wordperfect 6' - no effect
- 'Do not add space at end of line' - no effect
- Find & Replace two spaces with one - no effect
- Hitting return at end of affected line - no effect
How To Justify A Paragraph
I'm now trying to edit the document on my new MacBook with Word 15 but I can't find all those old options in the Word menu for 'Justify like Wordperfect 6' etc. Does this not exist in Word 15?
