Transcribe Audio To Text Software Free Download For Mac

I have not received any response which covers automatic speech to text transcription - I have looked at Transcribe, OneNote and others but these require you to listen to the recording and dictate it into a piece of software - I do NOT want to do that, it is far too cumbersome when you have hours of recordings.

However, I have found a video online which I have followed and am trying that method. The video on YouTube by Tech Tzu is the best I have found - Transcribing audio recording to text free. He advises how to download an digital audio virtual cable and other software to link your recording directly from Audacity to be transcribed to a file in Google.docs. I have tried it briefly and it works but there are some drawbacks: you have to convert WAV files to MP3 and switch your sound system to the virtual cable, etc. You also need to keep the Google.docs page open for the full recording to be transcribed. I think I will have to upload my recordings to Audacity and cut them into sections to make it easier to replay and be transcribed.

10 Best Transcription Software for Mac [Both Free & Paid] Posted by Rahul Gupta in: Mac Software When we are dealing with a significant amount of audio or video data, it is not that easy to hear them out and then convert them into text.

As I have said, I am no tech expert and I had to go through the video about 10 times to understand what he was saying and have worked my way through it very slowly and will need to do a lot of testing to make sure I can do it easily - but it did work.

I am disappointed that Google has not addressed this issue of having software which allows a recording to be transcribed through the computer as has Apple, the emphasis seems to be on dictatin very short bits of text.

What is the best speech to text software for mac? I have an hours worth of audio that I need to transcribe, and I'd really like to not have to do it manually :-).

I prefer free options and I like open source so if there is a project I'd like to know. All answers are welcome though.

Transcribe Audio To Text software, free download For Mac

Tough domain. There's no open source projects, that I'm aware of. Speech to text is probably best classified as a open research problem still. If you're prepared to punt $200, there's MacSpeech Dictate. But I'd be wary of claims of 90% accuracy.

Worth noting the case of SpinVox, a company that claimed to translate Voice Mail into text messages automatically, but had to use call centres full of workers in South Africa and the Philippines to do so accurately.

One thing you could try (although not on a daily basis) is uploading the audio as a video to Youtube, then asking YouTube to transcribe the video, giving you English captions...can take up to 24 hours for YouTube to do this, however...The caption file is even downloadable and you can edit them yourself, so you could copy and paste the text to wherever you wanted...

Found VoiceBase to be the best free transcribing tool and it is online so you don't need to install any software and works everywhere. I use to record voice memos in my iPhone and send them there.

Files of around 5MB/7 minutes (500-600 words) take 5-10 minutes to get transcribed (they send you an email when finished). It is sometimes inaccurate (ie. transcribes bias instead of buyers) and doesn't do any punctuation but I'd say 80-90% of the transcription is correct. It definitely saves a lot of time and keystrokes.
