You can add text to the nano editor simply by typing the contents directly into the editor. Saving the file, however, requires the use of a keyboard shortcut. To save a file in nano press ctrl and at the same time.

If you're using Sublime Text 2, unless you manually changed the name of the .app
file, the command should be:
Note the filename is Sublime Text 2.app
, and also note that only double quotes are needed, not double surrounding single.
